即決 (sokkettsu) means immediate decision or buyout. On Yahoo Auctions Japan, it is the fixed price at which a buyer can purchase a listing outright, without waiting for the auction to close or competing with other bidders. A listing with a 即決 price can be bought at that price the moment it appears.
Why Sokkettsu Matters for Arbitrage
Tonbo scores only 即決 listings. Open auction listings, where the closing price is unknown until bidding ends, are excluded from scoring because the margin calculation cannot be reliable at time of alert. If a listing has a 即決 price, the landed cost is calculable from the moment the listing appears: 即決 price at current exchange rate, plus proxy fees, plus shipping.
This design choice limits the opportunity set but ensures that every alert Tonbo fires reflects a price that actually exists and can be acted on. An alert on a listing at ¥45,000 即決 means a subscriber can go buy that listing right now at ¥45,000. There is no uncertainty about the terminal price.
Sokkettsu on Different Platforms
Yahoo Auctions Japan uses 即決 as the label for its buy-it-now feature. Many listings on the platform are hybrid: they have both a starting auction bid and a 即決 price. A bidder can compete via auction or short-circuit the process by paying the 即決 amount immediately.
Some listings are 即決 only, with no auction option. These are functionally equivalent to fixed-price retail listings and are the cleanest input for automated margin scoring. Mercari Japan operates as a pure fixed-price marketplace, so every Mercari listing has an effective 即決 price.
Yahoo Shopping Japan dealer listings are also fixed-price, with prices analogous to 即決.
